‘On the Issues with Mike Gousha: Representatives Shelia Stubbs and Jim Steineke’ is May 19

The Lubar Center for Public Policy Research and Civic Education will host “On the Issues with Mike Gousha: Representatives Shelia Stubbs and Jim Steineke” on Wednesday, May 19, at 12:15 p.m.

In this virtual program, Mike Gousha, distinguished fellow in law and public policy, will talk with co-chairs of the speaker’s task force on racial disparities, Representatives Jim Steineke (R-Kaukauna) and Shelia Stubbs (D-Madison). The task force recently released a series of recommendations that would change policing in Wisconsin.

They focus on four categories:

  • Use of force by law enforcement
  • Law enforcement oversight and accountability
  • Officer training and standards
  • Community engagement

The presentation will discuss the key recommendations the task force has made, how agreement was found, reaction to the report and whether the recommendations will be made into law.

The discussion will be available online via the “Watch Now” button.

Submit questions for the program online.

We look forward to welcoming you back to the Lubar Center at the law school for in-person events when it is possible. Until then, we plan to continue to produce online programming to help keep important discussions moving forward in our community.
