Department of Counselor Education and Counseling Psychology to host Diversity Gala, May 1

Students in the Graduate Student Organization (GSO) of the Department of Counselor Education and Counseling Psychology (CECP) will host the 20th Annual Diversity Gala on Saturday, May 1, at 7 p.m.

The gala will help support the CECP GSO Diversity Scholarship. The event will feature: 

  • A keynote address, “Addressing Trauma Through Transformational Leadership: Elevating Resilience in Our Diverse Communities,” by Dr. Maria Elena Perez. Perez is a licensed psychologist and vice president of Behavioral Health at Sixteenth Street Community Health Centers in Milwaukee. Perez is a graduate of the Marquette Educational Opportunity Program, CECP doctoral graduate and first recipient of the CECP GSO Diversity Scholarship.
  • A scholarship presentation of the 2020 and 2021 recipients.
