All Marquette email accounts will be migrated from Proofpoint Enterprise Security to Microsoft Office 365 Advanced Threat Protection (ATP) on Wednesday, Jan. 20, at 6 a.m.
This migration will provide additional cybersafe features and enhance the security of the university’s Microsoft cloud environment (Outlook, Teams, OneDrive, etc.).
The migration will offer the following benefits:
- Internal spam and phishing protection against compromised internal accounts
- Improved security for all files and URLs in Outlook, Teams and OneDrive
- External email banners to help identify content sent from external senders and raise awareness to potential threats
- Spam and phish reporting directly from Outlook Web Access and the Outlook client
IT Services staff have been preparing and pilot-testing for this migration project for the last several months in order to make the transition as seamless as possible for students, faculty and staff.
While the migration should be seamless, you may see minor disruptions in mail delivery during the migration window, which begins on Wednesday, Jan. 20, at 6 a.m. and ends on Wednesday, Jan. 20, at 9 a.m. Any mail queued during the migration period will be delivered at 4-hour intervals.
Most aspects of your mailbox and Office 365 account will remain unchanged. There will be some visual changes to email sent from external senders, additional spam reporting buttons in Outlook and Outlook Web Access and a new quarantine report, but all other aspects of accessing and using your email will remain the same.
