The Explorer Challenge, formerly the Strategic Innovation Fund, invites students, faculty and staff to submit proposals for up to $25,000 in seed money for innovative projects that make an impact and advance Beyond Boundaries, Marquette’s strategic plan.
Since its launch in 2016, the Explorer Challenge has awarded more than $7,000,000 in funding to 84 projects across campus, generating $24,000,000 in external grants and other revenue and returning Marquette’s investment by 225%.
Awarded projects involved 460 participants, and 37% of projects have involved student participants.
The Office of Research and Innovation has partnered with the Office of Marketing and Communication to produce an updated Explorer Challenge annual report, covering the first four years of Explorer Challenge projects. The annual report features innovator profiles, updates on previous projects and statistics on the success of the Explorer Challenge.
