Students invited to join Marquette Liturgical Choir and Music Ministry Team

September 9, 2020

Campus Ministry invites students to join Liturgical Choir and the Music Ministry Team on campus.

About Liturgical Choir
Ten-minute vocal interviews for Liturgical Choir will be held during the first week of each semester. Sign-up sheets will be posted before the first week of classes on the choir director’s door in Campus Ministry (AMU, Room 236).

Students enrolled in Liturgical Choir may receive one credit through the Diederich College of Communication.

Every precaution will be in place to protect singers during the pandemic, including face coverings and ample distancing when rehearsing. A combination of in-person and virtual rehearsals will allow the choir to prepare recordings to be used at Masses and for posting on social media. While in-person choirs cannot sing at Mass according to current COVID-19 health and safety guidelines, choir members can continue to rehearse and prepare music in a safe and responsible way.

About the Music Ministry Team
Student instrumentalists and singers lead the music for all small ensemble Masses on Sundays (10 a.m., 6 p.m. and 9 p.m.) as well as a weeknight Masses on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10 p.m.

The team meets weekly to prepare the music for Mass. This includes sharing scriptures and music suggestions, learning and rehearsing music together, and supporting each other as a community of faith.

Students interested in joining the Music Ministry Team should contact Tom Koester, director of music in Campus Ministry.
