The Marquette University Medical Clinic and the COVID Response Team is seeking faculty, staff and students to help with a validation study on the following dates:
- Wednesday, Aug. 5, from 9 a.m. to noon / 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
- Wednesday, Aug. 12, from 9 a.m. to noon / 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
The location for both dates will be at the south entrance of Straz Tower (915 West Wisconsin Avenue).
Volunteers without symptoms would be tested for the virus that causes COVID-19. Professionals will take a nasopharyngeal swab and show volunteers how to do their own nasal swab for the study. This is a “molecular test” that will test for pieces of the genetic material of the coronavirus.
To participate, contact Jen Schnuck, patient service representative specializing in immunization compliance, before Monday, Aug. 3. Volunteers will be contacted to set up an appointment and fill out a brief questionnaire.
Upon arrival, volunteers will be required to wear a cloth mask or face covering and bring a Marquette ID.
Participants for the Aug. 5 study will be contacted with results by the end of the day on Friday, Aug. 7. Participants for the Aug. 12 study will be contacted with results by the end of the day on Friday, Aug. 14. If positive, test results will be reported to the health department and the individual will need to begin home isolation.
At this time, approximately 100 tests will be available. If you are not contacted for this first validation study, your contact information will be kept on file and you may be contacted if a further validation study is needed.
