University mourns the loss of Jacqueline Walker, former EOP financial aid counselor

Marquette University mourns the loss of Jacqueline Walker, former financial aid counselor for the Educational Opportunity Program (EOP).

Walker spent more than 35 years at Marquette, 25 of which were dedicated to EOP. She was more than a financial aid counselor to countless students — she was an advocate, working tirelessly to award financial aid packages to students so that they would be able to continue their studies at Marquette.

Walker is remembered as being full of energy, compassion and positivity. She constantly cared for and welcomed all who crossed her path.

In 2019, Walker received the Excellence in Diversity and Inclusion Award. She retired from Marquette this past March.

A virtual prayer vigil will be held on Thursday, June 25, at 6 p.m. To register, contact Michelle Barbeyto, office associate for EOP. Registrants will be sent the link to join.

Additionally, a balloon release will take place this Saturday, June 27, at 3 p.m. outside Coughlin Hall. Attendees must wear a mask.

Funeral arrangements and an obituary will be shared in Marquette Today once available.

Saints of God, come to her aid!
Come to meet her,  Angels of the Lord!

May Christ, who called you,
take you to himself;
may Angels lead you to Abraham’s side.

Give her eternal rest,
O Lord,
and may your light shine on her forever.
