Vice President for Planning and Facilities Management Lora Strigens recognized as a ‘Notable Woman in Construction and Design’

May 26, 2020

Lora Strigens, vice president for planning and facilities management, has been named a “Notable Woman in Construction and Design” by Milwaukee BizTimes, as part of the local business publication’s award series that highlights exceptional leaders making a difference throughout southeast Wisconsin.

The Notable Woman in Construction and Design category is one of eight in a series that profiles accomplished women in the fields of construction, commercial and industrial design, architecture, and engineering.

“It is an honor to be recognized among this group of accomplished women. The built environment is a lifelong passion of mine, and I’ve been blessed to be able to pursue this work for the past five years at Marquette,” Strigens said. “I share this recognition with the many others who are part of the team on campus bringing our vision to life.  Working on projects that serve our campus community and contribute to advancement of our mission is a real blessing.”

The series considers major construction and design projects the awardees helped lead over the last 18 months.

Strigens is responsible for leading the development and implementation of the university’s ambitious Campus Master Plan, including the construction of The Commons, Marquette’s signature state-of-the-art residence hall facility.

Strigens has also led the design and project management teams behind the construction of the Athletic and Human Performance and Research Center; the Physician Assistant Studies Building; Eckstein Common; the installation of the Blessed Virgin Mary grotto; renovation projects, such as those in Johnston Hall; and key infrastructure updates throughout campus. She is also leading the design plans for the future home of Marquette’s College of Business and innovation leadership programs.
