The Association of Marquette University Women and Marquette’s Center for the Advancement of the Humanities will host The Eleanor H. Boheim Distinguished Lecture on Wednesday, Nov. 19, at 7 p.m. in the AMU Monaghan Ballrooms. The reception will begin at 6:30 p.m.

Best-selling and critically acclaimed author Claire Dederer will explore the question at the heart of her 2023 book, “Monsters: A Fan’s Dilemma” — whether and how audiences can separate artists from their art. Dederer examines figures such as Ernest Hemingway, Sylvia Plath, Roman Polanski, Pablo Picasso and Miles Davis, offering morally insightful and deeply engaging reflections on art and accountability.

The event is free and open to the public. Attendees can register online by Monday, Nov. 10.

Questions or special needs may be directed to Emily Rodecap at emily.rodecap@marquette.edu or (414) 288-7755.

The Eleanor H. Boheim Distinguished Lecture is supported by Mary Boheim Finnigan’s gift to endow the lecture series.
