Nursing to move to renovated and expanded Straz Hall in 2024

With the new home for Marquette Business due to be ready in December 2022, the future of David A. Straz, Jr. Hall, the current home of the College of Business Administration and Graduate School of Management, has been decided.

With a bold strategic plan to augment its 8,000-strong alumni workforce and make an even greater difference around the globe, the College of Nursing is poised to grow its enrollment significantly in the coming years. To accommodate this ambitious growth plan, Nursing will move to a renovated and expanded Straz Hall in 2024.

The project will be funded through a combination of philanthropy and increased revenues from program growth. Working with University Advancement, the college is engaged in a fundraising campaign to support Nursing’s strategic plan, including funding for the project.

“Business’ move to a new facility enables us to adapt and expand an existing space for a growing program,” says Lora Strigens, vice president for planning and facilities management. “Even if it were expanded, nursing’s current home, Clark Hall, could not appropriately or cost-effectively address future enrollment growth. In keeping with how we look at existing spaces through the lens of our Campus Master Plan, along with the building’s great potential, a fully and boldly reimagined Straz Hall emerged as an excellent solution to help this growing program achieve its enrollment and academic delivery goals.”

“We are planning strategic and careful growth of our undergraduate program to meet the societal need and increase access to a Marquette Nurse,” says Dr. Janet Wessel Krejci, dean of the College of Nursing. “We are looking forward to a future renovation of Straz Hall. A state-of-the-art facility, including wraparound academic support for students, will take us to the next level and provide a welcoming, inclusive environment for all.”

Future plans for Clark Hall will be determined through the Campus Master Planning process as Nursing’s move to Straz Hall nears.
