Help paint the new campus mural with artist Mauricio Ramirez; Community Paint Day moved to Oct. 27

Students, faculty and staff members are invited to help mural artist Mauricio Ramirez complete his design, “Our Roots Say That We’re Sisters,” which will be located on the north-facing façade of Varsity Theatre/Holthusen Hall.

A socially distanced Community Paint Day will now take place on Tuesday, Oct. 27, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. (This event was previously scheduled for Oct. 23 but was rescheduled due to rain.)

In response to comments shared during the online voting process and subsequent listening sessions, the final mural design will include four figures based on BIPOC (Black, Indigenous and people of color) women associated with Marquette.

Pre-registration is required to attend this event. Painting sessions are 45 minutes long and will begin at 11 a.m., running through 5:45 p.m. View all time slots and register.

If you registered for a time slot on Oct. 23, your original reservation will be honored on the new date, Oct. 27. Re-registration is not necessary. Additionally, due to popular demand, more time slots have been added.

Those who registered  but can no longer participate on the rescheduled date are asked to cancel their order via Eventbrite or by contacting Mary Dornfeld. Doing so will allow other Marquette community members to participate, as the original painting sessions were quickly filled.

Participants will be provided with gloves and paint, stationed more than six feet apart and invited to paint directly onto the mural. Participants must wear masks and present their COVID Cheq pass. In compliance with Step 4 of Marquette’s Recovery Plan, this event is limited to the Marquette University campus community only.
