Dear Marquette colleagues,
I am writing to provide you with an update regarding the search for the next dean of the Klingler College of Arts and Sciences. During the past few weeks, the search committee conducted off-campus interviews with a group of highly qualified semifinalists. Provost Kimo Ah Yun also interviewed the semifinalists. Following the interviews, the committee discussed its recommendations with Provost Ah Yun and identified finalists who will visit campus next month.
While this search is confidential and the names of the finalists will not be shared with the entire campus community, each visit will include approximately 15 meetings with faculty, staff and students, representing a broad range of the college and Marquette community.
The search committee’s goal is that each finalist has the chance to get to know us as a college and campus community, and that many from our community have the chance to provide feedback about these finalists. This feedback will be invaluable to President Michael R. Lovell, Provost Ah Yun and the search committee.
We are planning to have the finalist interviews completed by the end of January. At that time, the search committee will meet with Provost Ah Yun and discuss all of the feedback that has been received. Following reference, background checks and other due diligence, we hope that President Lovell and Provost Ah Yun will be able to extend an offer to a finalist in the early part of the new semester.
If you have questions about the search, please feel free to contact me at rosemary.stuart@marquette.edu. Be assured that the members of the search committee are committed to a fair and inclusive process. We are excited about the finalists and feel we are well on our way to selecting the next dean for the Klingler College of Arts and Sciences.
Sincerely,
Dr. Rosemary Stuart
Professor of biological sciences and chair of the Dean Search Committee
