The Office of Diversity and Inclusion will once again offer an “Unlearning Racism” series for all students, faculty and staff.
Led by Dr. Martha Barry, racial justice director of the YWCA of Southeast Wisconsin, the powerful five-part series seeks to develop participants’ capacities for discussing and addressing issues of racism.
Participants will:
- Gain an understanding of implicit bias, the historical implications of race, the role of economic disparity in housing segregation, and the meaning of whiteness and internalized racism
- Become equipped with tools to imagine and build richer relationships across racial differences
All Marquette students, faculty and staff are encouraged to register. The two-hour sessions will take place on Feb. 26, March 4, 18, 25, and April 8.
Participants are asked to attend all five sessions. Register online. With questions, contact Jacki Black, associate director of Hispanic Initiatives.
