Dear Marquette Colleagues,
I am writing to provide you with an update regarding the provost search. Over the past few weeks, the search committee conducted off-campus interviews with a group of highly qualified semifinalists. President Lovell also interviewed the semifinalists. Following the interviews, the committee discussed its recommendations with President Lovell and identified finalists who will be invited to campus for two-day interviews next month.
While this search is confidential and the names of the finalists will not be shared with the entire campus community, each visit will include approximately 15 meetings with faculty, staff, students and administrators representing a broad range of the Marquette community. Included in each finalist visit will be a meeting with the academic deans, a meeting with the faculty members of the University Academic Senate and the search committee.
The search committee’s goal is that each finalist has the chance to get to know us as a campus community, and that many from our community have the chance to provide feedback about these finalists. This feedback will be invaluable to President Lovell and the search committee.
We are planning to have the finalist interviews completed by mid-November. At that time, the search committee will meet with President Lovell and discuss all of the feedback that has been received. Following reference, background checks and other due diligence, we hope that President Lovell will be able to extend an offer to a finalist before the end of the semester.
If you have questions about the search, please feel free to contact me at lisa.edwards@marquette.edu. Be assured that the members of the search committee are committed to a fair and inclusive process. We are excited about the finalists and feel we are well on our way to selecting the next provost for Marquette.
Sincerely,
Lisa M. Edwards
