Near West Side Partners to host series of events in September

September 19, 2019

The Near West Side Partners will host several upcoming events and attractions.

For every event or site visited, participants will receive a sticker. At the end of the month, redeem your card for a variety of prizes – including a Near West Side-themed grand prize with a cash value of $1,000. Visit the NWS website for more information.

Events include:

  • Mobile Lantern International Film Exhibition – Sept. 20, 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
The Near West Side will become an outdoor theater at dusk on Friday, Sept. 20. The Mobile Lantern International Film Exhibition will transform buildings along 27th Street into screens, featuring films from local and international artists. Bring picnic blankets and sit out under the stars for a unique, West Side experience.
  • NWS Food Truck Rally – Sept. 19, 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Enjoy lunch outside with the Near West Side Food Truck Rally on Thursday, Sept. 19, at Highland Park (4200 W. Highland Blvd.) between the Harley-Davidson and MillerCoors campus.
  • Rev-Up MKE Live Pitch Event – Sept. 24, 5 p.m.
Enjoy free drinks and food at the Rave/Eagles Ballroom while listening to entrepreneurs pitch their businesses. Vote for your favorite at the end of the event. RSVP online.
  • Doors Open MKE – Sept. 28 – 29
Doors Open Milwaukee is a two-day public celebration of Milwaukee’s art, architecture, culture and history. Tour more than 160 sites throughout Milwaukee — including 15 in the Near West Side. This event takes guests behind the scenes of the neighborhood’s most admired buildings, including the Tripoli Shrine Center and The Rave. Visit each Doors Open site with the September Guide to collect stickers; turn your card in at the Mobile Design Box to redeem prizes. Doors Open MKE is also looking for energetic volunteers for this event. Information and registration is online.
  • Near West Side Farmers Market – Sept. 19 and 26
The Near West Side Farmers Market is located at 35th Street and Juneau Avenue, conveniently located on Harley-Davidson’s campus. Every week, local farmers selling flowers and seasonal vegetables are joined by a variety of artisans, makers and bakers. New vendors and entertainment are available each week.

The September Guide to the Near West Side serves as a passport to each event and Doors Open site.
