Two journalists from The South Florida Sun-Sentinel will keynote the 2019 Burleigh Lecture on Thursday, Oct. 10, at 4 p.m. in the AMU, Monaghan Ballroom.
Randy Roguski, metro editor, and Brittany Wallman, reporter, will discuss The Sun-Sentinel’s Pulitzer Prize-winning reporting on the Parkland shooting, which examined the prevention and response failures by law enforcement, the school district and social services in a high school touted as the state’s safest. Roguski and Wallman will discuss the lessons that this horrific episode holds for schools in America, the debate over gun control and ethical dilemmas the reporters faced.
The event is free and open to the public. Due to space limitations, registration is required.
The Burleigh Lecture is sponsored by the Diederich College of Communication and the O’Brien Fellowship in Public Service Journalism.
