Facing a deficit in its 2020 budget, the Milwaukee County Transit System has proposed eliminating its special UBUS and Freeway Flyer routes. This change would impact students who use a UPASS to travel to campus via UBUS and Freeway Flyer routes, as well as any faculty and staff who commute via these routes.
(Note: MCTS analysis shows that only a fraction of Marquette students uses UBUS and Freeway Flyer routes; the vast majority are using local MCTS bus routes, which are not under consideration for cuts.)
Milwaukee County’s budget process won’t be finalized until mid-November; however, MCTS thinks these cuts are a likely scenario. The following UBUS and Freeway Flyer routes may be eliminated as early as January 2020:
- 40U Holt College UBUS
- 42U 6th Street – Port Washington Road UBUS
- 44U Fair Park – Hales Corners UBUS
- 49U Brown Deer UBUS
- 40 College Avenue Flyer
- 43 Hales Corners Flyer
- 44 State Fair Park Flyer
- 46 Loomis-Holt Flyer
- 48 South Shore Flyer
- 49 Brown Deer-Bayshore Flyer
