Microsoft Teams: The Teamwork Hub of Office 365
Are you working on a project team? Do you need to keep people informed? Let Microsoft Teams be the hub for your team, organizing conversations and content to get things done. Teams brings together several Office 365 collaboration tools into a single space, whether you are using the Microsoft Teams desktop app, the mobile app or your web browser.

IT Services Moves Using Microsoft Teams
This summer, nearly 50 IT Services staff members moved from Cudahy Hall to the 313 Building at West St. Paul Avenue and North 13th Street. Teams helped make the move happen. On the IT Services Team, managers created an IT Services Move channel. A channel is a section of a Team, used to collaborate on a topic.

The IT Services Move channel sparked conversations on the schedule, space assignments, pre-move tours, furniture, packing tips, parking, kitchen supplies and more. Spreadsheets, floor plans and PowerPoints were attached to conversation messages. Information was in one spot to bring staff up to speed with the move.

Every channel in Teams has at least two tabs — the Conversations tab and the Files tab.

Conversations Tab
The Conversations tab is the place to post news, questions and issues and seek responses — even likes — from other team members. To ensure key team members see your conversation message, use mentions (a combination of the @ sign and the person’s name) to notify them. Teams notifies you of mentions by your name, likes and replies to conversations you are in.

Files Tab
Need to post a PowerPoint as part of your conversation reply? Simply attach the presentation in your reply. The PowerPoint file becomes linked in your conversation message. Teams automatically adds the presentation to the Files tab. Other team members can edit your PowerPoint right from Teams. Gather all your content in the Files tab, knowing every file is securely saved in a unique SharePoint site that only team members can reach.

Add Apps to Your Team Channel
Customize your Team channel by adding more tabs beyond Conversations and Files. Microsoft offers dozens of apps, which show as tabs on your channel. Add a OneNote notebook tab to the channel to keep meeting agendas and minutes. Insert the Planner tab to assign and track tasks. Create a Microsoft Form from Teams and collect responses, knowing all team members can see the results.

Try Microsoft Teams
Teams is available to faculty and staff. As of August 2019, all students moved from Skype for Business to Microsoft Teams. You can access Teams online at https://teams.microsoft.com/ by signing in with your Marquette email address and password. If you want to explore Teams further, see documentation. Faculty and staff can sign up for a GROW with Marquette training session.
