Marquette’s dedication to diversity and inclusion is strengthened through Living Learning Communities, or LLCs. LLCs offer students housing options that bring together those with common majors or interests, with the goal of blending in-classroom education with the residence life experience.
In Episode 45 of the We Are Marquette podcast, Dr. Corinne Schwarz, visiting assistant professor of gender and sexuality studies, and the fall 2019 faculty liaison for the Diverse and Inclusive Voices Engaging LLC, sits down with Andrea Garcia, senior at Marquette studying speech pathology and audiology, and a resident assistant for the Nuesto Hogar LLC.
Nuestro Hogar seeks to create a space for the Latinx student body to come together and form a community. As an RA, Garcia appreciates the opportunity to cultivate experiences among the Latinx student population, be a resource to her classmates and get to know her residents on a deeper, personal level.
In this conversation, Garcia and Schwarz discuss the value they’ve seen in these Living Learning Communities at Marquette.
