Marquette, the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and Northwestern Mutual were honored with the Business I.Q. Award during the 2019 BizTimes Bravo! Entrepreneur/I.Q. Awards Luncheon, which took place on Thursday, May 30.
The Business I.Q. (innovation quotient) award is given to organizations that develop innovative products or services, or those with notably unique and innovative processes, operational structures and market strategies. The 2019 award recognized the collaboration between Marquette, UWM and Northwestern Mutual to establish the Northwestern Mutual Data Science Institute.
In 2018, Northwestern Mutual formed an academic partnership with Marquette University and UWM. Leveraging the strengths of the three institutions, the groundbreaking partnership will contribute $40 million over the next five years to help build a technology ecosystem and advance southeastern Wisconsin as a national hub for technology, research, business and talent development, while creating an organic pipeline of tech talent in the area.
Acting Provost Kimo Ah Yun accepted the award on behalf of Marquette during the awards ceremony, which was held at Potawatomi Hotel and Casino.
