Gerry Fischer, associate director of Campus Ministry, will retire in early August. Members of the Marquette community are invited to honor Fischer and his 20 years of service at Marquette by attending a prayer service and reception on Thursday, May 9, starting at 3:30 p.m.
The prayer will take place in the AMU’s Chapel of the Holy Family; the reception will be held next door in the Campus Ministry offices.
Fischer joined campus ministry in 1999 as a retreat director. He then became director of social justice and community outreach in 2003. His work with Midnight Run, Soup with Substance and justice initiatives — such as the Border Awareness immersion experiences in El Paso, Texas and the annual Ignatian Family Teach-In — have impacted thousands of students. Fischer has been a spiritual companion, mentor, consultant and friend to many in the Marquette community.
To attend the prayer service and reception, RSVP to Ann Hilbert by Thursday, April 25.
