The Office of International Education will host Dr. David Kirkpatrick to present “Revolutionary Ferment: The Evangelical Left at the Latin American University” on Friday, April 26, from noon to 1:30 p.m. in Holthusen Hall, 4th floor.
Dr. Kirkpatrick is an assistant professor of religion at James Madison University and a scholar of religion and politics working at the intersection of the United States and Latin America. Prior to JMU, he was the T. Gannon Postdoctoral Associate in American Religious History at Florida State University and Teaching Fellow in World Christianity at the University of Edinburgh. He is the author of “A Gospel for the Poor: Global Social Christianity and the Latin American Evangelical Left” (University of Pennsylvania Press, 2019). His most recent research also appears in the Journal of the American Academy of Religion, Oxford Encyclopedia of American Religion, the Journal of World Christianity and the Journal of Ecclesiastical History.
