The Explorer Challenge, formerly the Strategic Innovation Fund, invites Marquette students, faculty and staff to submit proposals for up to $25,000 in seed money for innovative projects that make an impact and advance Beyond Boundaries, Marquette’s strategic plan.
In its first three years, the Explorer Challenge has awarded more than $7 million to 72 initiatives, which, in turn, have garnered more than $10.5 million in external grants and other revenue, returning Marquette’s investment by 45 percent.
The Office of Research and Innovation recently partnered with the Office of Marketing and Communication to produce the inaugural Explorer Challenge annual report. In it, read about successful, transformative projects in these areas:
- Student entrepreneurship and social innovation
- Water and the environment
- Advanced visualization
- Health and wellness
- Community partnerships
The report also features innovator profiles, which highlight members of the Marquette community who are game changers; fast facts; and an overview of the Explorer Challenge’s financial outcomes.
