The University Committee on Equity and Inclusion will host the inaugural Symposium on Diversity, Inclusion and Social Justice on Friday, April 12, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. This symposium will serve as an “institutional examen” – a time to look inwardly at who we are as a university and who we are called to be.
This year’s theme is “Rediscovering the Call of Marquette.” The purpose of the university, and especially the Jesuit university, is to be a convener of difficult conversation around issues of race and discrimination at the intersections of race, gender and sexuality as well as a leader for social justice action. This forum will help prepare the Marquette community to have challenging intellectual discourse and focus on its values.
Lunch will be provided. All faculty, staff, students, alumni and other campus stakeholders are invited to take part in the conversation.
