The Center for the Advancement of the Humanities will host the “Dr. Edward D. Simmons Lecture on Society and Human Values” on Wednesday, March 27, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. in Sensenbrenner Hall.
Dr. Nancy Bauer, dean of the School of the Museum of Fine Arts and professor at Tufts University, will present the lecture. Bauer will speak on the meaning of education in the contemporary world and will consider what it means to receive an education. She will also reflect on the ways that common practices at modern universities and colleges often get in the way of realizing the value of an education.
