Earlier this week, President Michael R. Lovell participated in a panel on diversity, equity and inclusion. Also on the panel was Kali Murray, associate professor of law, and students Christian Norfleet and Cambry Getter.
The panel, which was a direct result of student recommendations last spring, was held at the Marquette Law School’s Lubar Center and was moderated by award-winning journalist Soledad O’Brien. Panelists discussed the challenges that Marquette and Milwaukee face related to equity, inclusion and representation, as well as ideas to create a more welcoming and inclusive campus community. A video of the panel and Q&A is available on the Diversity and Inclusion website.
President Lovell also shared that addressing Marquette’s challenges related to diversity, equity and inclusion will be a primary focus of a University Leadership Council retreat next week. One outcome of that retreat is expected to be three to four actionable steps that can be implemented in the near future. Watch Marquette Today for more updates.
