Those who plan to visit Raynor Memorial Libraries in the coming weeks should be aware that major connectivity upgrades in the library’s buildings will cause intermittent internet down times and, potentially, disrupted work.
Specifically, during the morning of Thursday, Dec. 20, the library’s buildings will be completely offline. At that time, building visitors will have no wireless access to the internet and, consequently, will be unable to access the library catalog, databases and other resources unless they do so on a cellular device. In addition, the library’s public computers will have no internet connection, and PrintWise printers will be unusable. Departmental phones and networks will also be offline. Patrons will not be able to reach library staff via email, phone, or chat, and staff will be unable to look up information. Services will be restored first at the main circulation desk on Raynor’s first floor, with other areas coming back online during the course of the day.
Following the upgrades, there will be staged wireless outages in the library beginning Dec. 21 through Jan. 14. One floor will be offline at a time, until all floors are done. Please note that these disruptions affect only the library buildings. They will not impede access to the library’s website and resources from outside the library. Questions and concerns can be addressed to Edward Sanchez, head of Library IT, at (414) 288-6043.
