Steve Berta, investigations editor at the Indianapolis Star, will discuss “Exposing Larry Nassar” at the 2018 Burleigh Media Ethics Lecture on Thursday, Oct. 11, at 4 p.m. in the AMU ballrooms.
Berta, along with his colleagues Marisa Kwiatkowski, Mark Alesia and Tim Evans, worked together on the “Out of Balance” series for the Star that revealed 368 gymnasts had claimed sexual abuse by team doctor Larry Nassar over two decades.
During the lecture, Berta will explain how reporters uncovered the scandal, the ethical dilemmas the journalists faced and what is known about the depth of the abuse.
The Burleigh Media Ethics Lecture is free and open to the public; it’s sponsored by the Diederich College of Communication and the O’Brien Fellowship in Public Service Journalism. Due to space limitations, registration is requested.
