Virgin Pulse wellness vendor provides new and updated benefits

September 24, 2018

In July, Marquette University transitioned to a new wellness vendor, Virgin Pulse, through which employees can access programs through Marquette Wellness, engage in and track wellness activities, and take their Health Risk Assessment.

Registration for Virgin Pulse is available online. To complete registration, enter an email address and password. Once an account is created, employees can access the portal through the Virgin Pulse website or by downloading the Virgin Pulse app to a smartphone.

Virgin Pulse has changed the way employees on the Marquette-sponsored health plan earn HSA/FSA contributions. The Virgin Pulse wellness portal operates on a points and levels system, allowing employees to earn points for engaging in activities of their choice. As employees participate in different activities and track them through the portal, points are earned. This year, employees will have until Monday, Nov. 19, at 4 p.m. to earn up to 15,000 points and 100 percent of their 2019 HSA/FSA contribution.

Earning points can be done by taking part in wellness activities that are employees find important and support their personal well-being. Employees can track healthy habits that they would like to work on, take part in challenges, work with a health coach, connect a fitness tracking device, and invite 10 friends of family members to join them. Access to the International Fitness Club Network is still included and provides employees with discounts to local fitness studios and home fitness equipment and devices. Plus, access to various wellness modules from SelfHelp Works, mindfulness and emotional intelligence training modules from Whil, and nutrition tips and recipes from Zipongo are available. Employees can connect their MyFitnessPal account to your Virgin Pulse account to get an in-depth analysis of their daily calories in the customized nutrition guide.

The portal is open to all Marquette University employees and spouses of employees, regardless of health plan status, and rewards are offered rewards to everyone just for participating. As points are earned, so are raffle ticket entries. These entries make participants eligible to win one of 140 prize drawings in August and November.

Visit the Marquette Wellness website for more information such as how to register, a list of frequently asked questions, information specific to each health plan and what this means for employees and their spouses, as well additional information guides for Virgin Pulse.
