Application of Pedagogy Using Instructional Technology is a semester-long course with assignments every other week. This course teaches how to design short learning activities using educational technology to have a big impact. These short learning activities will take minimal amount of time to design, implement and grade. While major overhauls to courses are important, it is not possible every semester.
The technology explored in this course will be D2L, Qualtrics, iClicker and more. The major project for this course will consist of designing a class activity using educational technology, as well as assessing and adapting other’s activities.
Facilitating an Online Course is an online three-module faculty development course designed to provide participants with the opportunity to explore best practices and theories related to facilitating an online course.
Specifically, the course will model Marquette’s Standards of Excellence for Online Courses, while providing participants with the opportunity to gain perspective of a student.
Ignatian pedagogy will be a common thread throughout the course, and three major topics will be covered:
- Engagement — How will you engage students in the learning process?
- Facilitation — What are the best practices to facilitate effectively and efficiently?
- Assessment — How will you measure how well the students perform to the course and module learning outcomes?
