All month, Marquette will light up McCormick Hall in gold lights to help promote the “GrowGold” campaign, a collaboration between Gold in September (G9) and the Midwest Athletes Against Childhood Cancer Fund (MACC Fund), which aims to inspire Wisconsin businesses to turn their buildings gold in September, the national month for childhood cancer awareness.
G9 is a national childhood cancer non-profit dedicated to increasing funding for childhood cancer research and initiatives by growing awareness that inspires action to help every child, everywhere. Since the MACC Fund’s inception in 1976, it has contributed over $62 million to support childhood cancer and blood disorders research conducted in Wisconsin. The MACC Fund supports research conducted at the Medical College of Wisconsin in the MACC Fund Research Center, the MACC Fund Center at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin, in the UW Carbone Cancer Centers MACC Fund Childhood Cancer Research Wing, and the most recently, the Marshfield Clinic.
