Marquette Madness to feature concert, Oct. 5

September 17, 2018

Event moves to 9 p.m., incorporated into Homecoming activities
Marquette Madness, the official introduction to the 2018-19 men’s and women’s basketball teams on Friday, Oct. 5 at the Al McGuire Center, will feature a student-focused format this year.

The evening’s festivities, presented by Meijer, begin at 9 p.m. and will be highlighted with a concert from an international recording artist, who will be announced in the coming days.  Along with special giveaways and prizes, the night will also include team introductions and remarks from both head coaches.

Each team will hold an open practice, which will include a scrimmage, for all Marquette fans on Saturday morning (Oct. 6) at the Al McGuire Center.  The men’s team will practice at 9:30 a.m. and the women’s team will start at 12 p.m.  Both squads will also be at the Block Party at Westowne Square by the Alumni Memorial Union for autograph sessions beginning at 3 p.m.

Marquette Madness and the open practices are included in the University’s week-long Homecoming celebration.  Other activities on Oct. 5 include the bed races on 12th Street (4 p.m.), Lakefront Bash (5 p.m., Veteran’s Park) and Glow Blue & Gold 5K Run/Walk (6:30 p.m., Veteran’s Park).  Complete details on the festivities are available here: marquette.edu/homecoming.
