Chief Information Officer Kathy Lang to leave Marquette

July 9, 2018

Kathy Lang, chief information officer, is resigning from Marquette University, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Dave Lawlor announced today. Lang, who has been with the university since 2002, has been named the new senior vice president and chief information officer for Cielo Talent, the world’s leading strategic recruitment process outsourcing partner based in Brookfield, Wisconsin. Her last day at Marquette will be Friday, July 13.

“On behalf of the entire university leadership team, I want to express our gratitude for Kathy’s leadership for developing and implementing information technology strategies and initiatives university-wide for the past sixteen years,” Lawlor said. “During this time, Kathy has built a strong department that collaborates and partners with all areas of campus and delivers a stable and reliable environment. We wish Kathy the best in her new role at Cielo Talent.”

For her time at Marquette, Lang is credited with building a highly talented, committed information technology services team that helped usher in a modern cloud- and web-based services model and a sophisticated project management methodology. Lang also led the technological implementation of the Marquette University Police Department’s nationally recognized Command Information Center, which gives officers and dispatchers advanced surveillance and communication tools to virtually patrol the campus neighborhood.

“These past 16 years at Marquette University have been incredibly rewarding for me professionally and meaningful for me personally,” Lang said. “I will miss the many talented colleagues I’ve worked with, particularly the stellar and deeply committed IT Services team.”

There will be a farewell reception for Lang on Thursday, July 12, from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the Cudahy Hall atrium.
