Marquette’s Department of Facilities, Planning and Management, along with electrical, construction and restoration contractors, have assessed the damage to Johnston Hall after a Milwaukee County Bus struck the building in an accident on Tuesday, May 15.
The building is structurally sound and remains open; however, the archway to the northwest entrance sustained significant damage and will remain closed until the restoration project is complete. The university expects all work to be completed by the start of the fall semester.
Additional work includes repairing a damaged lamppost, and a restoration team that specializes in historical structures will repair the façade masonry and stained-glass window.
