“Refugee Health in Milwaukee,” part of the Marquette Forum’s collective events focused on health equity in Milwaukee, will take place Thursday, April 5, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. the AMU Monaghan Ballrooms. The event will discuss the health outcomes, challenges, and potential solutions for resettled refugees in Milwaukee.
There will be a panel session comprising of 2-3 refugees, a community health worker, and two health professionals, Drs. Jim Sanders and Sebastian Ssempijja, with extensive experience in working with refugees. This will allow for the refugee community to voice their challenges, concerns, and issues that they are facing which will be addressed by the health professional at the panel as well as those invited in the audience.
During the discussions, food will be provided, and after the panel and general discussion, the floor will be opened up to accommodate the resource representatives present at the event. Registration must be completed online by Monday, April 2.
