Employee Wellness Events for March

The Employee Wellness Program offers a variety of monthly wellness courses for faculty and staff.

Events for March include:

  • GROW – Spring Into Health will take place on Thursday, March 8,  from noon to 1 p.m. in Raynor Memorial Libraries’ Beaumier Suite BC. Join Carrie Murphy, doctor of acupuncture and Chinese medicine, for a fun, practical session on ways to use food, exercise, meditation, and rest to have a healthy, happy spring.
  • Welcome to Innovation Kitchen registration is available online. Come dine with Chef Jim Udulutch and your Marquette Wellness Team on Thursday, March 29, from noon to 1 p.m. Chef Jim, with Innovation Kitchen, will provide information to all attendees on how they will be partnering with Marquette Wellness through the Healthy Cooking Series. Q&A with Sodexo Dining Staff and the Marquette Wellness team will be offered with buffet lunch. The cost is $6.50 per person ($5 off for attending presentation) and includes refreshments, recipes, and a schedule for upcoming Wellness & Healthy Cooking events.
  • Full Plate Living and the YMCA Diabetes Prevention Program are two new nutrition/weight loss programs beginning in April. Full Plate Living is a 16-week online program that focuses on eating high fiber foods. Participants will receive videos, recipes, emails, and have access to a Facebook community for support. The enrollment period for this program is Tuesday, March 20, to Thursday, March 29. The program begins Monday, April 2. The YMCA Diabetes Prevention Program is a year long program for people who are at high risk of developing type 2 diabetes. This is an onsite program that includes 16 weekly, 1-hr sessions and 8 monthly, 1-hr sessions where you will focus on behavior change, nutrition, and healthy lifestyle factors. Program goals are to reduce body weight by 7% and increase physical activity to 150 minutes per week. Enrollment in this program includes a 6 month YMCA membership for a 2 adult household with children. The cost for both of these programs is $50. More information will be available on the Employee Wellness website soon.
