Sign-up for accessibility workshops

March 14, 2018

In support of Marquette’s electronic accessibility initiative, the Center for Teaching and Learning now offers one-on-one consultation and workshops design specifically to address accessibility of course content in the electronic classroom.

Consultation

One-on-one consultation is offered to Marquette employees who have specific questions or need assistance converting course content that is used electronically (e.g. D2L, websites).

Workshops

Four new workshops are available:

  1. Making your Course Materials Accessible to Students with Disabilities. This workshop is an overview of accessibility, why it is important to Marquette’s mission and a discussion about the changes required to make electronic course content accessible.
  2. MS Office Products Accessibility Overview. This workshop is a hands-on experience where each person will use MS functionality to edit a sample syllabus and PowerPoint slide so that it is accessible.
  3. Creating Accessible Images, Video, and Website links. This workshop focuses on adding accessible content to D2L.
  4. Creating and Converting .pdf documents to accessible document. This workshop is designed for the employees wanting to use .pdf files in D2L.

Registration for the Electronic Accessibility workshops can be completed online or you may view a list of all CTL workshops offered at CTL’s Workshop.

If you would like set-up a consultation or request the design of a workshop that is specific to your department, please contact Sheila Bernhardt, (414)288-5969.

Bernhardt is available all day on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursdays.
