Rev. Luis O. Jiménez-Rodríguez, S.J., Jesuit from Puerto Rico and engineering professor, will present the Rev. Francis Wade, S.J., Public Lecture on Wednesday, Nov. 15, at 4 p.m. in Raynor Memorial Libraries Beaumier Suites BC.
Rodríguez graduated in 1996 from Purdue University with a doctorate in electrical engineering in the fields of signal processing and pattern recognition. Since then he has been a professor at the School of Engineering in the University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez. In 2012 he finished a doctorate in theology (S.T.D.) at the Catholic University of Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium. There he was an active member of the “Groupe de recherche sur la rationalité théologique” (Research Group in Theological Rationality and Method).
His research interests include the relationship between science and theology, dialogue between neuroscience and Christian anthropology, fundamental theology, ethics and technology, the integration of values in the engineering design process, pattern recognition, and remote sensing. He has published many articles on engineering, philosophy and theology in books, peer-reviewed journals and peer-reviewed congresses.
