The Women’s Colleagues Program will host keynote speaker Lenora Billings-Harris on Thursday, Jan. 18, from noon to 1 p.m. in AMU 157. She will present her research on how cross-gender communication can be improved and re-framed for more effective results.
Billings-Harris has been included as one of 100 Global Thought Leaders on Diversity and Inclusion by The Society of Human Resource Management, and was named by Diversity Woman Magazine as one of the 20 top influential diversity leaders in the US. Her award-winning diversity leadership research is recognized in academic journals internationally. Billings-Harris recently keynoted at the Inclusion Conferences in Cape Town, South Africa and in Tel Aviv, Israel to share best practices with leaders within business, government, education and NGO communities.
The title of her presentation is “Becoming Workplace Allies.” This session uncovers the unconscious biases that men and women tend to hold toward each other, and then how to defuse the effect of these biases. Lenora will also be conducting a workshop with the Marquette University leadership team. The topic of cross-gender communication is timely as Marquette University works to create a more inclusive environment on campus as identified in the strategic plan Beyond Boundaries.
Lunched will be served. To attend, RSVP online before Saturday, December 23.
