Marquette University mourns the passing of Dr. John Couture, adjunct professor of English, on Oct. 8, 2017. Dr. Couture devotedly taught Catholic Literature and Composition, and had been at Marquette for several years. Visitation is from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Monday, with funeral services at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Peter and Paul Church, 2490 N. Cramer St., Milwaukee.
Dr. Angela Sorby, chair of the Department of English, noted that Dr. Couture was a devout Catholic and a fan of singer/songwriter Bob Dylan. He also enjoyed teaching at Marquette. “We are profoundly saddened by the passing of Dr. John Couture,” Sorby said. “He taught with joy and dedication to his students at Marquette.”
