National Cyber Security Awareness Month 2017 kicked off Sunday, Oct. 1. The theme for the first week of the NCSAM events is “Lock Down Your Login.”
According to the experts, strong pass phrases, multi-factor authentication, and caution when using public WI-FI can make a huge difference. The Stop.Think.Connect. campaign Toolkit offers cybersecurity resources for all segments of the community, including parents, businesses, educators, and students. US-Computer Emergency Readiness Team also provides tips to help understand threats and defenses.
Homeland security is asking everyone to spread the word on social media. People can join the campaign and get tips on tweets and posts. #ChatSTC is a twitter chat sponsored for NCSAM.
The Marquette University Center for Cyber Security Awareness and Cyber Defense, suggest faculty spread the word in the classroom and include content related to cybersecurity in classes where it is appropriate.
