Fall 2017 enrollment, retention and graduation rate statistics

October 5, 2017

Official fall 2017 enrollment, retention and graduation rate statistics, compiled by the Office of Institutional Research and Analysis, are now available on OIRA’s website. This includes student enrollment/FTE, first-year student profile, majors and minors, course enrollment and student credit hours, class size information, retention and graduation rates, and an update to the diversity and inclusion dashboard.

Marquette currently enrolls 11,426 students, of which 8,335 are undergraduates. The first-year class increased to 2,021 full-time, first-time students, of which 31 percent are students of color and 23 percent are first-generation students, both higher than previous cohorts. The first-to-second year retention rate of first-year students who started in fall 2016 is 89 percent, similar to previous years. The six-year graduation rate of first-year students who started in fall 2011 is 80 percent.

Graduate and professional students, with 3,091 enrolled in fall 2017, represent 27 percent of total enrollment. Just over 1,400 students are in master’s programs; 478 are in Ph.D. programs; 1,089 are in professional doctorate programs; about 100 are in non-degree or certificate programs.

All statistics are accessible via OIRA’s interactive reports.

For training on the use of these reports, consider attending the GROW Session “Interactive Reports for Institutional Data and Information” on Tuesday, Nov. 7. For more information, contact Crystal Lendved, OIRA research analyst, at (414) 288-8049.
