The credit reporting agency Equifax on Thursday, Sept. 9, announced that a cyber security breach compromised the personal information of as many as 143 million consumers in the United States, Great Britain and and Canada. The company has found no evidence of unauthorized activity on Equifax’s core consumer or commercial credit reporting databases, but has reported that credit card numbers for approximately 209,000 U.S. consumers, and credit dispute documents with personal identifying information for approximately 182,000 U.S. consumers, were accessed.
