The College of Business Administration’s 2017 Real Estate Strategies Conference will feature keynote speaker Dr. Edward Glaeser, Fred and Eleanor Glimp professor of economics at Harvard University, on Monday, Sept. 18, from 1 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. in the AMU Monaghan Ballrooms. Registration will begin at 1 p.m., followed by a networking reception from 4:45 p.m. to 6 p.m. Register online by Thursday, Sept. 14, at 6 p.m. Refunds will be available until 48 hours prior to the event and on-site registration will be $85.
Glaeser, who will present “The Evolution of the City as a Place of Innovation and Efficiency: The Impact on Property Markets,” is the author of Triumph of the City: How Our Greatest Invention Makes Us Richer, Smarter, Greener, Healthier, and Happier. The New York Times review of his book states, “Triumph of the City is bursting with insights and policy proposals to debate.” Glaeser’s essential contention is that cities magnify humanity’s strengths, attract talent and sharpen it, encourage entrepreneurship, and allow for social and economic mobility.
Additional events at the conference include a panel discussion focused on the boom in e-commerce and how the growing consumer desire for delivered goods has pushed the need for last-mile distribution facilities and retailers to ever-faster deliveries, as well as a presentation discussing the new findings on the determinants of commercial real estate investment returns.
