Dear Marquette community,
I write to you with deep sadness today to share that one of our students, Kevin Berg, died unexpectedly last week. Kevin was majoring in psychology and minoring in innovation and entrepreneurship as well as criminology law studies. This fall, he would have completed his senior year in the Helen Way Klingler College of Arts and Sciences.
Kevin’s family shared how much he loved his time at Marquette and we know that he was truly loved by his family and friends. He will forever be a part of our Marquette family. While I know that so many of you are away for summer break, I ask that we all come together in thought and prayer, whether you are near or far from campus.
Our university leadership team and Campus Ministry staff are working with Kevin’s parents to help them in any way possible. As Kevin’s closest family members grieve their tremendous loss, please pray for them.
It is in the most difficult times when our close-knit community supports each other best. Please, always look out for each other. It is important to know that the Counseling Center and Campus Ministry are available for students. In addition, the Chapel of the Holy Family in the AMU is available during the day for prayer.
Kevin’s family has informed us of the memorial service plans. On Saturday, June 3, at 1 p.m., a service will take place in Grace Bible Church (398 Eggleston Avenue, Elmhurst IL 60126-3765). We extend our deepest sympathies to Kevin’s family and friends for their immense loss.
Sincerely,
Michael R. Lovell
President
