Marquette University mourns the death of Dr. Joseph DeFalco, professor emeritus of American literature in the Klingler College of Arts and Sciences. He died Thursday, May 18, at the age of 85.
DeFalco was a Hemingway Scholar and published author. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a devoted member of the Greek Orthodox churches in Milwaukee.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years Jessie (Nee Mirialakis), daughter Melissa DeFalco Menge, son-in-law Jim Menge and brother Frank DiFalco. He is further survived by a niece, a nephew, family and friends, preceded in death by his parents Lawrence and Mary (Nee Cicero) DeFalco.
