Effective fall 2017, the university will begin to use a new grading system, based on plus/minus grades. University Academic Senate approved the change at its November 2016 meeting. The new grading system aligns Marquette with best practice across the nation and the Law School, which has utilized it since fall 2009. The grading system will be listed in the university academic bulletins.
The new grading system will not affect any grades recorded prior to fall 2017. Likewise, the new system maintains current GPA thresholds for academic policies, such as academic censure, graduation, Latin Honors and grades required in transfer courses.
