Marquette University and Milwaukee Area Technical College have established a formal partnership to better serve transfer students and facilitate the transfer process. This guaranteed admission agreement allows qualifying students to plan their transfer in advance by drawing on Marquette advising resources to ensure a smooth transition and be guaranteed admission to nearly any Marquette undergraduate program. Marquette Provost Dan Myers and Provost Mohammed Dakwar from MATC were the signatories.
MATC has campuses in Downtown Milwaukee, Mequon, Oak Creek and West Allis with more than 10,000 full-time enrolled students. MATC serves a large multicultural and local population with many students being the first in their family to attend college. Marquette enrolls several students from MATC each year. MATC students that follow the Liberal Arts Transfer track can complete an Associate in Arts or Associate in Science while also earning many transferable credits towards a Marquette Bachelor’s degree.
This guaranteed admission agreement is the second of its kind for Marquette University. The first was finalized earlier this year with the College of Lake County in Illinois. Both are examples of Marquette’s efforts to increase transfer student enrollment by developing clear pathways for student transfer from community colleges.
Marquette continues to identify strategic transfer partnerships with community colleges around the country. More information can be found online.
