Marquette to host summer camp for children with autism spectrum disorder

May 4, 2017

Children with autism spectrum disorder ages 6 to 11 years old are invited to participate in the Marquette University Summer Communication, Literacy and Enhanced Socialization (MUSCLES) camp from Monday, June 12, to Thursday, June 29, from 8:30 a.m. to noon daily.

Participants for the summer literacy and research program should fit the age requirement, speak English consistently and flexibly, and have a current Individualized Education Plan.

Camp curriculum will be based on the Start-to-Finish literacy curriculum targeting phonological awareness, word study, vocabulary, comprehension, and fluency skills.  Additional activities will include art, games, language, and social activities. Participants will have the opportunity to learn and interact with other children with and without autism, in class sizes of about 10 to 12 children.

For more information, contact Dr. Doris Walker-Dalhouse at (414) 288-4555 or Dr. Mary Carlson at (414) 288-4548 by Friday, May 5.
