Faculty, staff, and students are encouraged to submit theme ideas for the revised University Core’s Discovery Tier. Collective submissions are encouraged, especially those involving members of the Marquette community from different parts of campus. These themes will be shared with campus for feedback, and the Core Committee will select themes based on this feedback in the fall of 2017.
As the university moves into the implementation phase of a revised Core, the Core Committee is seeking campus input to help identify themes for the Discovery Tier, which is the second tier of the revised Marquette Core that will be an opportunity for students to explore and compare how multiple disciplines can approach a persisting challenge or question.
A successful theme must be able to spark multiple points of dialogue, represent issues of contemporary importance and be the focus of study by a variety of scholarly disciplines. Themes will be reviewed initially beginning on Monday, May 8, and will be accepted until Friday, Sept. 1. Courses will be added to themes in a second process that will occur in the fall.
More information can be found online. All completed call for themes forms can be sent via email.
